These phones resemble Grandstreem’s GXV-2000 but also have similarities with Cisco’s SIPura product line (Cisco’s small business SIP handsets). Neither of the ones I mentioned however have XML browser or display ad capabilities.
The Yealink phones are inexpensive. They are actually distributed by Cortelco and are intended for a market that doesn’t really care about that sort of stuff. Matter of fact, I have yet to run across any company that gave two leg shakes over an XML browser on their phone. Even the biggins. Either way, I think XML to a phone is cool, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not a feature that ever won me an $100k plus contract even.
Agreed. This actually got me thinking about advertising on business phones. I think they are onto something here. To me as a service provider, it would certainly open a new revenue stream.
